SHIP'S WELFARE COMMITTEE
- The functions of the Welfare Committee are set out in DI(N) ADMIN 9-5 Ship's Company Welfare Committee. The objectives of the Welfare Committee are to provide an arena for free discussion between officers and sailors on welfare matters, recreational activities and general amenities within the establishment and to provide CReST with a business plan detailing funds required to be generated by CReST for the planned operation of the Welfare Committee.
- Subjects outside the scope of the Welfare Committee are general conditions of naval service, for example, discipline, working hours, pay and allowances, leave scales, cooking and serving food from the galleys and questions of welfare and amenities not directly connected with the establishment.
- The Committee is to meet at least every second month. Additional meetings are to be convened when circumstances require.
- The Welfare Committee is to consist of: the XO as ex-officio Chairman; an Officer appointed by the CO as ex-officio Vice-Chairman and Ship's Fund Treasurer (to be a Supply Branch Officer whenever possible and who normally also undertakes the duties of CAF Treasurer); Charities Officer (as appointed by the XO); the SOXO as Secretary; and elected representatives of all areas within HMAS CERBERUS.
